BIOGRAPHY
Darren leads the firm with a strong commitment to QV’s values. Driven by the trust clients place in QV, he empowers all QV’ers to show up with integrity, teamwork and accountability. He helps foster a culture of continuous improvement that is critical for maintaining excellence in investment management and client service.
Darren is passionate about coming to work each day to make sure clients and employees are well taken care of. He takes great care to ensure individuals are excelling in their roles and that the team is equipped to deliver on QV’s mission.
Darren has been analyzing Canadian equities for over 20 years. He began his career in Edmonton in a branch of TD Canada Trust before becoming an Associate with Canada Trust Private Investment Counsel. Before joining QV, he spent five years as a research analyst and trader with the Alberta Investment Management Corporation.
Outside of work, Darren enjoys spending time with his wife, Trish, and their three children. He loves the outdoors, golfing, skiing and boating with his family. He also volunteers in the community as a finance committee member for FearIsNotLove (formerly the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter) and in the past with the Trails West Hockey Association.
Darren is a QV shareholder and serves as a Director of the firm.

Canadian Market Expectations are High
Companies in the TSX Composite Index are reporting earnings for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023. If looking only at the strength we have seen in equity markets, it would be easy to assume that everything is on track for a strong finish to the 2023 earnings year. However, analysts have forecasted that Q4 2023 earnings will be down 1.1% from the same period in 2022.
